Conversations about school
Research shows that supporting your child’s education at home is very important.
Having a conversation with your child about their school day is a great way to stay involved. Below are a couple examples of conversation starters:
• “Show me what you have for homework.”-It is your child’s job to do his/her homework, but you play a role too. Make sure your child knows what they are supposed to do by having them explain their assignments to you. After homework is complete, review it together.
• “Describe a book you enjoyed today.”-This gives you an idea of what your child enjoys to read. Encourage your child to read aloud to build reading skills.
